Rather than salvaging the project, Capcom chose to reallocate its budget and manpower to high-priority AAA titles like Resident Evil 9 (Requiem) and the Resident Evil 4 remake. Current State of the Series (2026)

It leaned heavily into "investigation" features, with players gathering clues to solve puzzles and navigate a university campus. Enemies were described as zombie-like but capable of speech and using melee weapons like scissors.

While Revelations 3 is dead, the spirit of the sub-series lives on in Capcom's current roadmap: Capcom | Every rumored, leaked and announced projects

The long-standing anticipation for has shifted from eager rumors to a documented history of "what could have been." While the series remains a fan favorite for its return to claustrophobic survival horror, latest reports indicate the project was officially canceled in 2022 after several years of troubled development.
