Freddie was never friends with Carly and is now dating a mean, materialistic girl named Rona Berger.

The episode begins with Spencer building an unconventional "Magnatree"—a magnetic Christmas tree made from junkyard parts. When the tree malfunctions and catches fire, it destroys all the presents Carly bought for Spencer. Furious and frustrated by her brother's constant eccentricities, Carly wishes that Spencer had been born "normal".
To Carly's horror, Nevel is her boyfriend because "normal" Spencer approved of him.
