In this episode, Moonbase Alpha is threatened by a series of massive shockwaves originating from a nearby planet. Commander John Koenig, Alan Carter, and Maya travel to the planet to investigate and find a way to stop the destructive energy. They discover a civilization consisting of advanced, chlorine-breathing beings currently in a state of metamorphosis within protective cocoons—the " AB Chrysalis ".
: Filming took place during a record-breaking British heatwave in 1976. Temperatures on set reached up to 120°F (49°C), and actors Martin Landau and Nick Tate had to perform in heavy spacesuits while the studio's air conditioning failed.
