The story culminates in a fight for survival as Margaret and Ben must determine if the children are truly possessed by a supernatural force from the woods or if Ben is losing his mind.

The weekend begins normally until the group discovers a mysterious, seemingly bottomless "well" or abyss inside a crumbling structure deep in the forest. The children appear fascinated by it, and after they go missing overnight, Ben finds them standing at the edge of the pit. He watches in horror as they seemingly jump to their deaths—only for them to reappear at the campsite shortly after, completely unharmed but subtly different.
