As the snow finally retreats from the Vermont landscape, a familiar sight begins to blanket our forest floors: the deep red and brilliant white petals of the . It’s the flower that gives our community its name, chosen by our founders to represent "new growth" and the "message of spring throughout the year".

While "wake-robin" is primarily the common name for various species of the wildflower, it is also the name of a prominent Life Plan Community in Shelburne, Vermont. I am providing a blog post focused on the Wake Robin community , as it has a rich culture of nature, resident-led initiatives, and sustainability often highlighted in its own blog.
